Rosetta and Douglas were the parents of five offspring. The first child Prince Albert Harris born 14 May 1901 in Penn Township, Cass County, died 11 Dec 1902. The other children were Oliver Cromwell Harris b 27 Apr 1893, Floyd E. Harris b 12 Jan 1894, Robert Lee Harris b 12 Apr 1895 and James H. Harris b Aug 1898. Their sons Oliver, Floyd, Robert and James all served in the U.S. Army at the same time during World War 1. It has not been determined when Rosetta and Douglas divorced. For the remainder of her life Rosetta returned to her maiden name of Wilson. Rosetta was lovingly known locally and by family as Aunt Rett. She would live with people when they were ill or needed someone to stay with them. For many years she spent her spare time braiding rugs from rags sewn together. She sold the rugs for income. In the early 1950s Aunt Rett spent several years living at the Vandalia home of Rosanna Allen Wilson. Rosanna’s husband, James H. Wilson, who had passed in 1948, was Aunt Rett’s first cousin. During the summer, Aunt Rett sat in the backyard under the maple tree braiding colorful rugs. Occasionally neighbors namely Elsie Matthews and Maude Lane would stop by to visit. During the winter Aunt Rett sat by the window in her bedroom stitching together strips of cloth and braiding. Rosetta Wilson spent her last year living with her granddaughter Rosalene Mae Harris Pompey. Rosetta died on Monday, 23 Nov 1959, in Dowagiac, Michigan. Her funeral service was held on Friday, 27 Nov 1959, at Chain Lake Baptist Church, burial was at Chain Lake Cemetery with Rev. Ray Jackson presiding. Additional Comments: Contributors: Maurice W.
