This is a large obelisk marker.  The marker epitaph is illegible.  The Allen 
surname is inscribed in the marker footing. 

Temperance A.(Tempa Ann) Allen was born either 5 Oct or 7 Mar 1842 in OH.  She 
was the daughter of Green Allen, Sr. b. 7 Feb 1807 in NC and Angelina/Angeline 
Wade b.~24 Jul 1810.  

Green Allen, Sr and Angelina Wade were married 15 Oct 1829 in Northampton Co. 
NC. Green Allen, Sr. and Angelina nee Wade Allen were also the parents of Mary 
Jane Allen b. 1832, Louvina Allen b. 1834, John Wesley Allen b. 1838, Julia 
Ann Allen b. 1843 in Logan Co. OH and Arthur A./Otto Allen b. 1847.   All 
children were born in OH. 

Temperance A.(Tempa Ann) Allen married James W. Allen 10 Jul 1864 in Cass Co., 
MI.  Temperance A. Allen and James W. Allen were cousins.  

Temperance A. and James W. were the parents of Louisa May Allen b. 1866 in MI, 
Arthur Allen b. 1869 in MI, Maud Allen b. 1872 in MI and Bertha Allen b. 1875. 
in MI. 
James W. Allen died May 9, 1876 at the age of 40 years.  

After the death of James W. Allen, Temperance A. Allen married Joseph Cannon 
Ash 4 May 1879 in Cass Co., MI. 

Temperance A. Allen and Joseph Cannon Ash had one child named Melvin Ash b. 
~1884 and d. 18 Sept 1926 at the age of 42 years.  

Temperance A.(Tempa Ann) nee Allen Ash died May 22, 1892 at the age of 50 
years 2 months and 15 days.
