Sarah Byrd was born ~1789. 

As of August 2006 the top of this marker displaying the person's name is 
missing.  The marker is lying in the ground in two pieces. 

Using the 1940 DAR Transcription of Chain Lake Cemetery and through the 
process of elimination it is believed this marker belongs to Sarah Byrd wife 
of Elisha Byrd. 

Note:  The parents of Elisha Byrd were James Byrd b.~1752 Southampton VA and 
Sarah Hathcock.  James Byrd and Sarah Hathcock were married August 30, 1789 in 
Southampton Co. VA.  

Research indicates Elisha Byrd was born ~1790 in Southampton Co.VA and died 
~1854 in Cass County MI.  Elisha Byrd married Sarah Byrd.

The children of Elisha Byrd and Sarah Byrd were:
Gorham, Crawford b.~1812 VA, Nancy b.~1814 NC, Wyatt b.~1824 NC, John b.~1827 
NC, James b.~1830 OH, Lansen b.~1833 OH, Mary A. b.~1835 VA.

Sarah Byrd died December 20, 1868 at the age of 79 years.
