To Hold Burial Rites Saturday For Emma M. Bird

Graveside services for Miss Emma M. Bird, former local resident who died last
Saturday at Swedish hospital in Seattle, Wash., will be held at the Brookside
cemetery at 10 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. James Sherman will officiate at the
commital service.

The body will arrive Friday from the west and will be at the Winchester Funeral
Home until the hour of the service.

Miss Bird., who had taught in schools in Walla Walla and Seattle, Wash., for
many years, had been in failing health for the past two months.

A native of Ironton, she had been reared from childhood by the late Dr. and Mrs.
L. B. Bartlett. She was a graduate of the Charlevoix high school and Michigan
State Normal College in Ypsilanti. She had lived in the west for many years.
