Loren L. 1912-2002 1902-1976 Additional Comments: OBITUARIES Courtesy Charlevoix Library Obituaries Mr. Corwin Rites Saturday CHARLEVOIX Funeral services for Loren L. Corwin Sr., 73, wlll be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Winchester Funeral Home Rev. Raymond H. Giffln of the First Congregational Church will officiate and interment will be in Brookslde Cemetery. Mr. Corwin died yesterday at his Charlevoix home. He was born July 16. 1902 in Ashley, Mich In 1935 he was married to the former Isabel Payne in Indiana and the couple lived In Lansing where Mr. Corwin was employed by The Oldsmobile division of General Motors for 42 years. In 1963 the couple moved to Charlevoix where They purchased the Silver Birch Motel which they operated until 1972 when Mr. Corwin retired. Mr Corwin was a member of the First Congregational Church in Charlevoix; a member of the Charlevoix Humane Society; a member and past president of the Charlevoix Kuwanis Club; a former president of FISH; a member of the Charlevoix Senior Center; was active in the Charlevoix chapter of American Red Cross; a member of the Quarter Century Club, General Motors, Lansing. Survivors include his widow; two sons. loren L. Corwin Jr. of Petoskey and Ralph E. Corwin of Traverse City , three daughters. Mrs larry (Lois) Payne of Florence, Ky., Mrs Gary (Barbara)Villeneuve of Woodhaven and Mrs Jacquelyn Little of Romulus; 12 grandchildren Friends may call at the Winchester Funeral Home. The family suggests that anyone wishing to honor the memory of Mr. Corwin. may do so by contributing in his name to the First Congregational Church memorial fund. _____________________________________________ Isabel (Payne) Corwin, 89 Isabel (Payne) Corwin passed away Saturday, April 13, 2002, surrounded by her loving family. A viewing and memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at the John Molnar Funeral Home, 23700 West Road, Brownstown, Mich. 48183. Burial will take place at noon Monday, April 22, at the Brookside Cemetery in Charlevoix. Isabel was born May 4,1912, and married Loren L Corwin Sr., on July 20,1935. She resided in Lansing as a loving mother and wife until 1963, when Loren retired from GM Oldsmobile and they purchased the Silver Birch Motel in Charlevoix. Isabel lived in Charlevoix until 1991 when she moved to the Detroit area to be closer to her daughters after Loren's death. Her husband, Loren Sr., sister, Aileen Jenks, and brothers, Cliff, Ab and Ralph Payne, preceded her in death. She is survived by her five children, Lois (Larry) Payne of Florence, Ky., Loren Jr. (Pat) Corwin of Petoskey, Barbara (Gary) Villeneuve of Brownstown, Mich., Jacquelyn (Ray) Kaipio of Woodhaven, Mich., and Ralph Corwin of Ellsworth. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Addie (Ralph) Payne, who resides in Petoskey. Isabel's 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren will miss her deeply. Memorials to honor Isabel Corwin are requested for the Alzheimer's Association at 17220 West 12 Mile Road, Suite 100, Southfield, Mich. 48076.
