MRS. L. E. CRANDALL IS TAKEN BY DEATH

Passing Sunday Evening Followed Long Period of Illness

Charlevoix lost a beloved and highly respected woman Sunday evening when Mrs. L.
E. Crandall passed away at her home following an extended illness.

Mary L. Ward was born January. 4, 1876, in Marion township, the daughter of John
and Lydia Ward, Charlevoix county pioneers. She was married September 22, 1897,
to Loren E. Crandall at the family home in Marion township. The couple lived on
a farm in the Barnard district for ten years before moving to Charlevoix, where
they have since resided with the exception of winters spent in Florida.

Surviving besides the husband are a daughter, Mrs. Arthur Wexstaff, this city, a
son, Verle Crandall, La Crosse, Wis., one sister, Mrs. Robert Mitchell, State
street, and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Mitchell residence on
State street, Rev. G. R. Parker of the Congregational church, officiating.
Interment was at Brook-side.

Mrs. Crandall was a member of the Congregational church and Eastern Star. A
large following of friends mourn her death.
