June 16, 1904 June 17, 2000 Mom Alice L. Oct.23, 1908 July 15, 1998 OBITUARY Ralph E. Cross Sr., Ralph E. Cross Sr., 96, of Charlevoix arid formerly of Cross Village, died June 17, 2000, at his home in Charlevoix, Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, at the Winchester Funeral Home in Charlevoix. The Rev. Eugene Baughan of Barnard United Methodist Church will officiate and burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Charlevoix. Ralph was born June 16, 1904, on Beaver Island, the son of Charles and Mary (Hazel) Cross. He attended Beaver Island and Charlevoix schools. On Nov. 15, 1927, he married the former Alice Beadle in Northport, Mich., and they lived in Cross Village for more than 50 years. Ralph worked as a commercial fisherman on the Great Lakes his entire life, and was a member of the Filmore Wrecking Crew for several years. He is survived by his sons, Charles "Bill" (Donna) Cross of Alpena, and Ralph Cross Jr., "Bruz," of Charlevoix; grandchildren, Catherine (Jeff) Glomski of Alpena, Virginia (Mike) Marzean of Columbia, S.C., Gayle (Barry) Gilbertson of Walker, Mich., Judy Spiegle of Horton Bay, Tom Cross of Alaska, Gary Cross of Charlevoix, Larry (Cathy) Cross of Charlevoix, Colleen (Butch) Smith of Allegan; -10 great- grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren. Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Alice, in 1998, and son, Theodore. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church in Charlevoix. Envelopes for contributions are available at the Winchester Funeral Home in Charlevoix, where friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 20. Alice Beadle Cross OBITUARY Alice L. Cross Alice L. Cross, 89, of Cross Village. died July 15, 1998, at Charlevoix Area Hospital. The funeral, was Monday, July 20 at Winchester Funeral Home in Charlevoix. The Rev. Dale P. Ostema of the United Methodist Church in Charlevoix officiated. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery, Charlevoix. Alice was born Oct. 23, 1908, in Caseville. the daughter of William James Beadle and Dorothy J. (Anderson). In 1927, she married Ralph E. Cross in Northport. They made their home in Cross Village for 45 years, and for several years have spent the winter months in Zephyr Hills, Fla. Alice attended the Church of the Straits in Mackinaw City. She worked as a bookkeeper for Ralph Cross Fisheries in Cross Village until 1986, and was a member of the Wrecking Crew Breakfast Club in Petoskey. Survivors include her husband, Ralph E., of Cross Village and Zephyr Hills, Fla.; two sons, Charles "Bill" Cross and his wife, Donna, of Alpena, and Ralph M "Bruz" Cross of Charlevoix; one sister, Dottie Beadle, of Mankato, Minn.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by an infant son, Theodore. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Boulder Park Terrace Nursing Home.
