Funeral services were held Monday at the "Winchester Funeral Home with the Rev. Arthur A. Austin officiating. Burial was in Brookside cemetery. Born in Holland, Michigan, Dec. 25, 1865, Mr. Drost had come to Northern Michigan as a young man and worked in the lumber woods. In 1910 he was married to the former Nellie Brown at Bellaire. They lived there before coming to Marion township in 1906. Mrs. Drost preceded him in death in 1938. In recent years he has made his home with his only daughter, Mrs. Nina Ouderkirk. He attended the Assembly of God church. Nellie Drost OBITUARY Charlevoix Courier September 21, 1938 WELL KNOWN MARION WOMAN DIED TUESDAY Mrs. Nellie Drost Succumbed Following Long Illness-Funeral Friday Mrs. Nellie Drost, well known Marion township woman, died last Tuesday, September 13, following an illness of many years. Funeral services were conducted Friday from the See Funeral Home by Rev. H. J. Pulsipher. Burial was at Brookside cemetery. Nellie Brown was born February 16, 1884, at Mancelona, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Brown. In May, 1900, she was united in marriage to Chris Drost of Bellaire, and has lived in this community since that time. Surviving besides the husband are six children, viz: Willard and Cecil, athome; Louie of Clarion, Ben of Charlevoix, George of Alpena and Mrs. George Ouderkirk, at home. There are also 9 grandchildren. Two children preceded her in death. Her mother and sister reside in Washington. Mrs. Drost has been a member of the Pilgrim Holiness church the past 28 years. She leaves a host of friends who will greatly miss her in the church and community.
