Arthur S. Edwards

Funeral services for Arthur S. Edwards, 91, were held at the United Methodist
Church Saturday, Oct. 25. The Rev. David W. Yingling officiated. Interment was
in Brookside Cemetery.

Mr. Edwards died Thursday, Oct. 23, at the Grandvue Medical Care Facility.

Born in Charlevoix Sept. 10,1895, Mr. Edwards attended Charlevoix High School
and studied telegraphy at Ferris Institute, now Ferris State College. He was
employed as a telegrapher for the Great Northern Railroad in Minnesota until
entering the U.S. Navy in 1917 during World War I.

He continued his study of telegraphy at Harvard University while in the U.S.
Navy. He returned to Charlevoix in 1918 and on Dec. 10, 1919, was married to the
former Rena Cram. They always made their home here.

He was associated with a family business, Edwards Florist, from 1938 until he
retired in 1950. He was a railroad buff and had traveled via rail throughout the
United States. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Rena, of Charlevoix; two sons, Richard L. and Louis A.
of Charlevoix; two grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the United Methodist Church or Grandvue Medical
Care Facility.

The Winchester Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
