OBITUARY
Mrs. Evans

Funeral for Mrs. Charles Evans, 78, was held Monday, Feb. 22, at the Winchester
Funeral Home, the Rev. Elmer Faust officiating. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery.

Mrs. Evans died Feb. 19 at the Grandvue Medical Care Facility where she had been
a patient for five weeks.

The former Blanche Melhorn was born in Chicago Nov. 3,1892. She married Otto
Smith in 1912 and they made their home in Charlevoix. Mr. Smith died in 1951.

She later married Mr. Charles Evans who died in 1955.

Mrs. Evans operated a millinery shop in Charlevoix and later was a fitter at
Sarah Weinstock stores in Petoskey and Palm Beach, Fla.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the WSCS, Rebekah Lodge No.
293, the Past Noble Grand Club and the Charlevoix Senior Citizens Club.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ray (Florence) Pedersen of Punta Gorda,
Fla., and Mrs. Harold (Dorothy) Grattan of Waterford, Mich.; a son, Frank W.
Smith of Charlevoix; 10 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs.
Mayme Hermansen of Las Vegas, Nev., and two brothers, Arthur Melhorn of Oregon
and Charles Melhorn of Mercer, Wisc.
