HENRY FIKE DIES FRIDAY

COMMUNITY SHOCKED BY UNEXPECTED LOSS

Mr. Henry Fike passed away unexpectedly at his residence, 402 West Hurlbut
avenue Friday night, his death following an illness extending over a period of
some months that succeeded an attack of pneumonia contracted last spring from
which he recovered. Later a heart trouble developed and this at infrequent
intervals caused some annoyance and it was one of these attacks that resulted in
his death.

Mr. Fike was for a term of years connected with the department of conservation,
for the past seven years a resident of Charlevoix and prior to his transfer to
this city by the department a resident of Boyne Falls where he was a long time
citizen. He was held in high esteem by his neighbors, the public with whom he
was associated, fellow workers in the department and its supervising officials.

Mr. Fike was born at Vestaburg, Michigan, May 7, 1889, therefore 43 years, 4
months and seven days old at the time of his death.

He is survived by Mrs. Fike, daughter Vivian, two sons, Neil and J. C. Fike,
Jr., his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Fike, Sr., two sisters, Mrs. O. Gillis of
Charlevoix and Mrs. Rose Hetrick of Boyne Falls.

Funeral service was held at the Baptist Church Monday afternoon with the pastor
Rev. W. H. Rauch officiating.
