WILLIAM H. FRANCIS
DIED LAST TUESDAY
Funeral for Pioneer Local Business Man Held Thursday Afternoon

Charlevoix lost another of its prominent pioneer business men last Tuesday in
the death of William H. Francis, who succumbed at his Bridge street residence
following an extended illness.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon from the See
Funeral Home, Rev. G. R. Parker officiating. Interment was at Brookside cemetery.

Mr. Francis was born July 9, 1858, at Mitchell, Ont. He was married at Winnipeg
in 1883 to Christina McLean, who died in 1928. The couple came to Charlevoix
soon after their marriage. Mr. Francis was associated with the late John Burns
in the operation of lumber mills, the manufacture of cedar fish corks, building
supplies, etc. He later operated several pleasure boats for hire, among them the
familiar "Olympia." He retired from business several years ago.

Mr. Francis married in 1931 to Mrs. Nettie Mason, who survives besides a
daughter, Mrs. John Piank of Grand Rapids, and a niece, Christina Francis of San
Antonio, Tex.
