Gornell 1883 - 1936 Joseph Gornell 1881 - 1959 Ethel Gornell 1892 - 1973 Alice Horne Gornell - OBITUARY BELOVED LOCAL WOMAN IS TAKEN BY DEATH Mrs. Joseph Gornell Succumbed Tuesday After Week's Illness Mrs. Joseph Gornell, well known local woman, died Tuesday evening at her Antrim street home following a week's illness. Her sudden passing was a shock to her family and friends. Alice Horne was born at Shipley, England, May 16, 1885. She was united in marriage to Joseph Gorneli in the Bankfort Parish church, England, May 17, 1911. Mr. Gornell came to America in 1914, just before the declaration of war by Germany. Mrs. Gornell did not follow him until September, 1919. She came directly to Charlevoix and had since made her home here. Mrs. Gornell is survived by her husband; a brother, Joseph Horne, England; two nieces, Mrs. Martin Doctor and Mrs. Harry Southerland, both of Muskegon. She was an active member of the Congregational church, the Pilgrim Circle and Woman's Christian Temperance Union. Definite funeral plans have not been made, but will probably be held Saturday at the Congregational church. _______________________________________________________ Joseph Gornell OBITUARY Funeral Rites Held For Joseph Gornell Graveside services for Joseph Gornell, 78, former local resident who died Tuesday at his home in Muskegon, were held at Brookside cemetery last Friday with the Rev. A. R. Gold officiating. Funeral Services were held at the Clock funeral home in Muskegon at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. A native of England where he was born in 1881, Mr. Gornell came to Charlevoix from England in 1914 and continued to make his home here until going to Muskegon in 1942. His wife, Alice, preceded in death. Surviving are his wife, the former Ethel Pack, whom he married at Muskegon in 1945 and a sister, Mrs. Emma Gill in England. _________________________________________________________________ Ethel Baker Pack Gornell is the 2nd wife of Joseph Gornel (1859-1959).
