OBITUARY
Charlevoix Courier

William F. Habel Sr., 63, of Charlevoix, died May 2, 1990, at little Traverse
Division, Northern Michigan Hospitals.

Funeral was 2 p.m., Saturday, May 5, at Winchester Funeral Home, Charlevoix. The
Rev. Lowell Anderson of the Charlevoix Assembly of God Church officiated with
burial in Brookside Cemetery, Charlevoix.

Mr. Habel was born June 18. 1926, the son of Frank and Jennie (Nowland) Habel
Jr. He was raised by his stepfather, Albert Stanley Houghton and his mother,
Jennie, and has been a lifelong resident of Charlevoix. He was a truck driver
most of his life and retired from Rex Transportation in Flint in 1988 after 10
years. He also owned and operated a farm.

Mr. Habel served in the U.S. Army from 1947-48.
He married the former Leona C. Warner on Jan. 14, 1949, in Charlevoix.

Mr. Habel is survived by his wife; three sons, William F. Habel of Charlevoix,
James L. Habel of Charlevoix and Allen S. Habel of Bay Shore; one daughter, Mrs.
David (Sandra Kay) Santure of Charlevoix; nine grandchildren; two brothers,
Robert Houghton and Albert Houghton, both of Charlevoix; two sisters, Mrs.
Garrett (Bertha) Potter and Mrs. Bill (Bernice) Macy both of Charlevoix.

The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association. Envelopes for
that purpose are available at the Winchester Funeral Home.
