Hanshew 1867-1941 OBITUARY Charlevoix Courier CITY MOURNS DEATH OF MRS. EVA HANSHEW Had Been Highly Respected Resident Here Since 1894 Mrs. Eva Hanshew, 73, passed away Friday morning at her home on Antrim street. Eva May Liscome was born in Benton Harbor, November 10, 1867. She first came to Charlevoix as a young girl with her parents. Later they went to what is now the state of North Dakota, where she married Alonzo A. Hanshew on August 21, 1883, in Devil's Lake, Ramsey county, Territory of Dakota. They lived in Indiana and several Michigan cities before returning to Charlevoix in 1894, to make their permanent home. Mr. Hanshew died May 2, 1916. Of their seven children, five survive. They are Mrs. Ward Bennett, of Grand Haven and Beaver Island, Mrs. Verl O. Cram, of Port Huron, Mrs. J. R. Whitehead, of Bronson, Clarence Hanshew, of Durand, and Justin Hanshew, of Detroit. Also surviving are six grandchildren, two great-grand-children, and a sister, Mrs. A. D. Goddard of Redding, Calif. Mrs. Hanshew was a member of the Christian Science society. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the See Funeral Home, with Verl O. Cram as reader. Interment was at Brookside cemetery. ______________________________________________ Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Hanshew, of Durand, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Hanshew, of Detroit, Mr. and Mrs. Verl Cram and sons, Bobby and David, of Port Huron, and Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Whitehead, of Bronson, were called here last Friday by the death of their mother, Mrs. Eva Hanshew. Among those here for the funeral of Mrs. Eva Hanshew on Sunday afternoon were Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Hilliker, of Ann Arbor, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Send and daughter, of Suttons Bay, Mrs. R. 0. Cram of Port Huron, Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Pepeiatt of Detroit, and J. M. Whitehead of Galesburg, Illinois.
