Jones, Jr. is the son of Vernon and edna webster Jones. Services Are Held On Saturday For Vernon Jones Jr. Funeral services for Vernon Jones Jr., 31, former resident who has resided in South Arm township near East Jordan for the past eight years, were held Saturday at the Pontius Chapel. The Rev. George L. Majors officiated. Burial was in Brookside cemetery. Death was due to accidental drowning according to James Stackus, of Boyne City, Charlevoix county coroner. It is believed he fell into Monroe Creek after suffering a seizure while mowing the lawn on the Allen property which borders the creek. He was found a short time later by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Jones Sr. Born in Charlevoix Aug. 30, 1921, he had always lived here until eight years ago when he moved to South Arm township with his parents. His father is the caretaker of the Allen property. Besides his parents, he is survived by a brother, John of Columbus, Ohio and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. E. R. Jones of Norwood.
