Frank Ella M. 1850-1939 1859-1936 Ella Marie Wilkes was born March 17, 1859 in Oakland County, Michigan the daughter of Robert Wilkes Ella Wilkes married William Frank Kane on September 15, 1874 Ella died at age 77 on May 22, 1936 in Hayes Township, Charlevoix County, Michigan. Cause of death: Influenza and Pneumonia. OBITUARY William Frank Kane - Hayes Pioneer, Dead Succumbed Friday at 89 Years Funeral Held Here Monday William Frank Kane, 89, Hayes township pioneer, died Friday, October 13, at the home of his son, Otto. Mr. Kane was born May 31, 1850, at Grand Blanc, Mich., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Kane, and resided there until a young man. He married Ella Marie Wilkes at Grand Blanc on September 15, 1874. They came to Hayes township in 1881, numbering among the early pioneers of that district. Mrs. Kane preceded him in death in 1936. Surviving are three sons, Otto, Robert of Boyne City, Glen of Chicago; a daughter, Mrs. Clara Trafford of Interlochen; also 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Jennie Gundry of Grand Blanc. A daughter, Pheobe, preceded her parents in death. Funeral services were conducted Monday at 2 o'clock from the See Funeral Home by Rev. G. R. Parker. Interment was at Brookside cemetery. __________________________________________________________________________ Obituary Charlevoix Courier May 27, 1936 DEATH TAKES BELOVED HAYES TOWNSHIP WOMAN Mr. Frank Kane Died Friday, May 22 — Funeral Conducted Monday Mrs. Frank Kane, well known Hayes township woman, died of complications at her rural home Friday evening, May 22. Ella Marie Wilkes was born March 17, 1859, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wilkes, of Flint. She spent her girlhood days at the family home near Flint and Grand Blanc. She was united in marriage to Frank Kane, of Flint, on September 15, 1874. The couple came to Charlevoix in 1881, numbering among the early settlers of Hayes township. Surviving besides the husband are a daughter, Mrs. David Trafford, of Interlochen; three sons, Robert and Otto, of Hayes township, and Glenn, of Chicago; also 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Phoebe, preceded her mother in death. Funeral services were conducted Monday from the home. Rev. W. H. Rauch officiating. Interment was at Brookside cemetery. Attending the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Kane, of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. David Trafford, of Interlochen; Mrs. Leslie Smith, of Milwaukee, Wis.; Mrs. Clyde Trafford and children, of Traverse City; Mr. and Mrs. Fay Kane, of Boyne City; Mr. and Mrs. Gerard Kline, of Cheboygan.
