Mitchell 1846-1925 John F. Mitchell married Ann Will. OBITUARY Charlevoix Courier January 06, 1926 PIONEER RESIDENT PASSES Had Lived Here For Period of 40 Years John F. Mitchell Dies at Home of Daughter in Almont, Michigan John F. Mitchell, a resident of this county for about 45 years, died at the home of his daughter. Mrs. Charles H. Wilson, in Almont, Michigan at 8 o'clock last Thursday morning, after an illness of nearly a year's duration. Mr. Mitchell was born in Blairgowrie, Scotland, August 25, 1846, and was in his 80th year at the time of his death. He was married in Arbrath, Scotland, to Miss Anna Will, and the couple came to this country and settled on a farm near Ironton, where they resided up until 14 years ago, when they took up their residence in this city. Mrs. Mitchell passing away here about three years ago. After the death of his wife, Mr. Mitchell moved to Almont, Michigan, his later years being spent with his daughter, at whose home he passed away. He is survived by six children: four daughters; Mrs. Charles H. Wilson, Almont, Mich.; Mrs. Roy F.Swinton, Ann Arbor, Mich.; Mrs. Earl H. Coleman, Hastings,Mich., and Miss Isabelle Mitchell of this city, and two sons, John of Boyne City and Dr. W. W. Mitchell of Charlevoix, all of whom were present at the funeral. The remains were brought to Charlevoix and funeral services were held last Sunday afternoon at 1 :30 o'clock, from the home of his son, Dr. W. W. Mitchell, 110 Park avenue. Rev. B. G. Mattson, pastor of the Congregational church, officiating. Internment in the family lot at Brookside. During his many years of residence in this county and in the city of Charlevoix, Mr. Mitchell had acquired a large following of friends and acquaintances who knew him for his honesty and sterling character, and he will be greatly missed from our rapidly diminishing rank of early pioneers.
