Oldham July 16, 1853 - September 22, 1926 OBITUARY Courtesy Charlevoix Library Obituaries ANOTHER PIONEER CALLED BY DEATH John T. Oldham Dead After Illness of Nearly Two Years Charlevoix is called upon to mourn the loss of another pioneer of this region by the death of John T. Oldham, who died at his home here last Wednesday forenoon, after an illness lasting over a year and a half. Deceased was born at London. England, July 16, 1853. He lived there until nine years of age, moving with his parents to Boutheful, Canada, where he resided for about ten years. From Boutheful the family moved to Bracebridge, Canada, where Mr. Oldham was united in marriage to Anna M. Pickering. Mr. and Mrs. Oldham left Bracebridge about thirty years ago, moving onto a farm near Barnard, making their home there until they took up their residence in Charlevoix. Seven children were born to this union, six of whom survive, viz: George, of Hibbing, Minn.; John H., of Detroit; Mrs. E. H. Carpenter of Saginaw; William of Kent City; Lacy W. of Flint; and Mrs. E. J. Smith of Charlevoix, all of whom were present at the funeral. A son, Horatio, is deceased. Funeral services were held from the Methodist church last Saturday forenoon, September 25th, Rev. C. E. Pollock officiating. Interment at Brookside. Mr. Oldham was a staunch and faithful member of the Methodist church and died fully trusting the Lord. He was a man of sterling character and leaves a host of friends who will mourn his departure.
