Patterson, 84 On March 24,2008, Virginia L. Patterson, 84, of Homestead, Fla., left her loving family and friends here on Earth to be with the Lord and join her husband of 65 years, James Patterson, her son, Archie Patterson, her son-in-law, Ben Collige, and other treasured loved ones. Virginia was born on Sept. 5, 1923, in Petoskey, the daughter of Loomis and Margaret (Col-well) Pike. On Sept. 14,1938, she married James Patterson in Boyne City. They made their home in Ellsworth until 1951 when Jim's trucking business took them to Battle Creek and to Lapeer. They moved to Homestead in the early 1970s. Virginia operated an income tax service for 25 years. She worked at this job she loved up until two weeks before her death. Her tax clients and her numerous friends were her extended family. Virginia attended Christ Fellowship Church in Palmetto Bay and leaves behind her wonderful friends there. She and Jim also supported Harvest Barn Word of Life Church in East Jordan. She gave all her family love, respect, guidance and encouragement in life's many challenges. Surviving are her son, Bernie (Brenda) Patterson, of Homestead, Fla.; daughters, Christine Collige of Bellevue, and Jacquiline (Dale) Spotts of Newaygo; 17 grandchildren; 59 greatgrandchildren; and even great-great-grandchildren.
