Peters Graciously and peacefully Alberta Peters of Charlevoix entered into the presence of her Lord July 27, 2007. She was born Alberta Louise Dean, in Grand Rapids, Mich., on July 6, 1919. After a brief marriage to Lyman Battle, she met and married Merton Peters Oct. 31,1948. They made their home in Charlevoix, where they raised seven children. Alberta was a loving, devoted and caring woman who touched the lives of all who knew her. Her relationship with God and her family were most important to her. Alberta had a great sense of humor and loved to tell stories. Among her favorites were, how she met her husband, Merton, and how she helped make B52 bombers during World War II. She is survived by her children, Jerry Battle of Petoskey, Joseph Battle Sr. of Charlevoix, Ella (John) Kerner of Bay Shore, Dorianne (Gary) Stofle of California, John (Kim) Peters of Charlevoix, Frances Peters of Montague and Loren Peters of California. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and their spouses, 28 great-grandchildren and their spouses, and four great-great-grandchildren. She has one sister, June Wade, of Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merton Peters; granddaughters-Sarah Battle of California, Martha Battle of Charlevoix; a sister, Mona Madouse; and a brother, Richard Dean. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. at the Community Church of God, 202 W. Hurlbut St., in Charlevoix. Pastor Neil Turner will officiate. A luncheon will follow. Interment will be at Brookside Cemetery in Charlevoix.
