Funeral services for Merton 0. Peters, 68, who died Tuesday at the Charlevoix
Area Hospital where he had been a patient for one day, were held at the
Winchester Funeral Home Thursday, July 8. The Rev. James Lugibihl of the Bible
Baptist church officiated. Interment was in Brookside cemetery.

Born at Boyne Falls, March 21, 1908, Mr. Peters was married to the former Mrs.
Alberta Battle at Cheboygan on Oct. 31, 1947. They had always resided here. He
had retired years ago after being employed by the City of Charlevoix for many
years. He attended the Bible Baptist church.

Surviving are his widow; two sons, John H. of Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., and
Loren K. of Charlevoix; three daughters, Mrs. Paul (Ella F.) Bellmer of
Petoskey, Mrs. Gary (Dorianne) Stofle of Redwood City, Calif., and Frances Mary,
at home; two step-sons, Jerry F. Battle of Redwood City, Calif., and Joseph L.
Battle of Ann Arbor; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Francis and Daniel of
Charlevoix and two sisters, Mrs. Rhoda Putman of Bay Shore and Mrs. Bruce
Reinhart of Charlevoix.
