LONG ILLNESS ENDS IN DEATH OF LOCAL YOUTH

Floyd LaVern Rice Died Saturday — Buried Tuesday Afternoon

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the
residence, 801 Grant street, for Floyd LaVern Rice, 17-year-old son of Mr. and
Mrs. Floyd Rice, who died at 7:20 a. m., Saturday, following an illness of
several years.

Rev. W. W. Hurd of the Methodist church, officiated at the funeral, and
interment was at Brookside cemetery.

Deceased was born April 23, 1915. He attended local schools and was in his
freshman year when illness forced him to leave his studies. The first illness
from scarlet fever resulted in heart trouble which ultimately caused his death.

Surviving besides the bereaved parents are a sister, Velma, and a brother, Emerson.


FUNERAL SERVICE HELD FOR LAVERNE RICE

Funeral service was held Tuesday afternoon for La Verne Rice, 16 year old son of
Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Rice, with Rev. W. W., Hurd officiating at the service.

His death followed an illness that has been continuous over a term of several
years, therefore was not unexpected by relatives and friends.
