May 11, 1898 - Feb.11 1968 Additional Comments: OBITUARIES Courtesy Charlevoix Library Harry Sanford Passes At Age 72 Graveside services for Harry Sanford, 72, former Charlevoix county resident and brother-in-law of Datus Dean, will be held at Brookside cemetery at 2 a.m. Thursday with Rev. Raymond J. McBratnie officiating. Mr. Sanford died Sunday at Northville where he had resided for many years. Funeral services were held at Northville Wednesday. Surviving are four sons. Norman and Donald of Northville. Dean of Plymouth and William of Ann Arbor; 15 grandchildren and two sisters. ________________________________________________________ To Hold Funeral Rites Friday for Mrs. Sanford Mrs. Bertha P. Sanford, 72, longtime resident of this community, died late Monday at the Grandvue Medical Facility where she had been a patient for a month. She had been in failing health for several years. Funeral services will be held at the Winchester Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Fred W. McNeil officiating. Burial will be in Brookside cemetery. Born near Chestonia in Antrim county Aug. 17, 1887, the former Bertha P. Sweet was married to Harry Sanford in 1904. He preceded her in death in 1954. They lived in Flint, Grand Haven, Grand Rapids and for a short time in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mrs. Sanford returned here from Flint about 12 years ago to make her home. She was a member of the Methodist church. Surviving are five sons, Harold of Lansing, Harry of Tampa, Fla., Frank, Leonard and Forrest of Charlevoix; 23 grandchildren including Raymond with the U. S. Navy at Black Foot, Ida., Robert of Lansing, Richard in South Carolina with the U. S. Navy, Lucille and Lorian of Charlevoix, James in Alaska with the U. S. Air Force, Harry of Jackson and Mrs. Gloria Grimm of Prarieville, whom she reared and six greatgrandchildren.
