Rev. G. R. Parker, of the Congregational church, officiated, and interment was at Brookside cemetery. Deceased, member of the plumbing firm of Heise & Schantz, was born October 23, 1893, at Caledonia, Kent county. He had resided in this county for many years. Surviving him are his mother, Mrs. Paulina Schantz, of Hayes township; five sisters, Mrs. Ed. VanDuctern and Mrs. Elizabeth VanderHeit, Grand Rapids; Mrs. Louis DeWinter, Kalamazoo; Mrs. Roy Muscott, Indian River, and Minnie Gregory, this city; also three brothers, George, of Petoskey, and Paul and Isaac, of Hayes township. Funeral service was held last Friday afternoon at the See Fueral Home for Samuel Schantz, local resident and business man, who died at the American Legion Hospital at Camp Custer, near Battle Creek, Tuesday, September 17th.
