LOCAL BUSINESS MAN IS TAKEN BY DEATH

Samuel Schantz Died Last Tuesday Near Battle Creek

Funeral services were conducted at the See Funeral Home last Friday afternoon
for Samuel Schantz, local business man, who died Tuesday, September 17th, at the
American Legion Hospital at Camp Custer, near Battle Creek.

Rev. G. R. Parker, of the Congregational church, officiated, and interment was
at Brookside cemetery.

Deceased, member of the plumbing firm of Heise & Schantz, was born October 23,
1893, at Caledonia, Kent county. He had resided in this county for many years.

Surviving him are his mother, Mrs. Paulina Schantz, of Hayes township; five
sisters, Mrs. Ed. VanDuctern and Mrs. Elizabeth VanderHeit, Grand Rapids; Mrs.
Louis DeWinter, Kalamazoo; Mrs. Roy Muscott, Indian River, and Minnie Gregory,
this city; also three brothers, George, of Petoskey, and Paul and Isaac, of
Hayes township.

FUNERAL SERVICE FOR SAMUEL SCHANTZ LAST FRIDAY P. M.

Funeral service was held last Friday afternoon at the See Fueral Home for Samuel
Schantz, local resident and business man, who died at the American Legion
Hospital at Camp Custer, near Battle Creek, Tuesday, September 17th.

Mr. Schantz, who was a member of the local plumbing firm of Heise & Schantz, was
born at Calidonia, Michigan, October 23, 1883 and is survived by his mother,
Mrs. Paulina Schantz, of Hayes township, and one sister, Minnie Gregory, of
Charlevoix
