FUNERAL FOR NORWOOD WOMAN HELD SUNDAY

Mrs. Joseph Smith Succumbed Last Thursday at Local Hospital

Mrs. Joseph Smith, well known Norwood woman, died early last Thursday morning at
Charlevoix Hospital, where she had submitted to an operation the previous Monday.

Mary Sawyer was born at Misscoka, Canada, February 13, 1884. She spent her
girlhood and attended school there, and on May 30, 1900, was united in marriage
to Joseph Smith. The couple moved to a farm near Pickford, Mich., residing there
and at other places until coming to Norwood in 1930.

Surviving besides the husband are a daughter and four sons, viz: Mrs. Ellen
Waite, of Midland, Elmer, of Houghton Lake, Vern, of Frankfort, Lyle, of
Detroit, and Wilmer, of Charlevoix; also four sisters and four brothers, Mrs.
Margret, of Brevort Lake, Mrs. Rachel Sweet, Mrs. Rebecca Sweet, Mrs. Florence
Smith, John and James Sawyer, all of Seattle, Wash., William Sawyer, of Hessel,
and Robert Sawyer, of Summersville, Mich.
