G. Don Swinton 1907 - 1978 Additional Comments: Rev. Don Swinton Rev. Fr. G. Donald Swinton was born in Charlevoix December 19, 1907, the son of Dr. A. A. Swinton, a doctor in the community. He graduated from Charlevoix High School. His family was among the early ones in Charlevoix, his maternal grandfather was the first superintendent of Charlevoix Schools and his paternal grandfather built and operated the Argo Milling Co. now the site of the Weathervane Inn. He married the former Lillian E. Kay at Mt. Prospect, Illinois on May 29, 1926. He left in 1951 to study for the priesthood. He was ordained into the priesthood on November 30, 1953. He retired in 1975.
