THOMSON Charlevoix Courier LEONARD THOMSON Funeral services for a former resident, Leonard A. (Link) Thomson, 60, who died Tuesday at his home in Holt, were held Friday at the Estes-Leadley Funeral Home in Holt. The Rev. Myron Williams of the United Methodist Church officiated. Interment was in Brookside Cemetery at Charlevoix. A Masonic and Eastern Star service were held at the Masonic Temple Thursday evening. Born at Alba Oct. 7, 1919, Mr. Thomson moved to Eveline township in Charlevoix County in 1931. He was graduated from the East Jordan High School and later became the first Charlevoix County resident to enlist in the U.S. Army prior to World War II. He served five years in the U.S. Army, most of it in the South Pacific. Following his discharge, he and the late Burl Walker built and operated a store at Ironton. On Dec. 2, 1950, he was married to the former Clara Gregory at Charlevoix. They lived here until moving to Holt in 1952. He was employed at the Oldsmobile Experimental Assembly plant in Lansing until he was forced to retire because of illness. He was a member and Past Master of Holt Lodge No. 572, F.&A.M., Royal Arch Masons, Leslie Council, Jackson Commandry and Holt Chapter No. 510, Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are his wife; four brothers, Ivan J. of East Jordan and Harlingen, Tex., Duanne C. of East Jordan, Arney W. of Lansing and Ezra Noel (Ed) of West Milton, Ohio and eight sisters, Mrs. Ernest (Ada) Brown and Mrs. Percy (Merta) Brown of East Jordan, Mrs. Arkie (Helen) Simpson of Rector, Ark., Mrs. Gene (Arless) Townsend of Holt, Mrs. Edward (Gwendolyn) Perry of Romeo, Mrs. Dan (Wava) Sinclair of Mesa, Ariz., Mrs. Charles (Virgleen) Fairbanks of Boulder, Colo., and Mrs. Roger (Irma Jane) Benson of Elk Grove, Calif. ___________________________________________________________________ OBITUARY - CLARA P. THOMSON Clara P. Thomson, 71 Clara P. Thomson, 71, former Charlevoix resident, died Sept 27, 1991. Funeral was held Tuesday, Oct 1 at the Estes-Leadley Holt Delhi Chapel, Holt, Mich. Graveside service was held at Brookside Cemetery, Charlevoix. Mrs. Thomson was bom July 18, 1920, in Hayes Township, Charlevoix County and had been resident of Holt since 1952. She attended Burgess School and Charlevoix High School and married Leonard (Link) Thomson in November of 1950, Mrs. Thomson owned and operated the Curley Corner Beauty Shop from 1960-82 in Holt. She was a member and past grand matron of Holt Chapter No. 510, Order of Eastern Star; a Grand Representative of Nebraska; a member of the Holt United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in February 1987. Mrs. Thomson is survived by one aunt; many cousins; special friends Larry and Anne Woodard, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Daggett and family and Jean Daggett. Visitation was held at the funeral home. An Order of Eastern Star service was held Monday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the Holt United Methodist Church or to the Cancer, Heart or Diabetes Research in care of Holt Chapter No, 510, Order of Eastern Star.
