FORMER LOCAL CITIZEN BURIED HERE MONDAY

William Thorpe, 73, Died After Long Illness at Muskegon

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon from the See Funeral Home for
William Thorpe, former local resident, who died January 27 at Mercy Hospital in
Muskegon, following an illness of four years.

Rev. John Alexander officiated at the services and interment was at at Brookside
cemetery.

Mr. Thorpe was born March 31, 1866, at Mount Forest, Ontario, Canada. He came to
Charlevoix county at the age of 16 years and resided here most of his life.

He was married September 10th, 1892, to Miss Sarah Hyde. To this union were born
nine children, eight of whom survive, viz: Will and Fred, ; this city; Gordon
and Harold of Lansing; Ray of Flint; Mrs. Gordon I Sheehy of Muskegon Heights;
Mrs. Kenneth Scott of Los Angeles, Calif.; and Mrs. John McCullen of Lansing.
Other survivors include four brothers, John and Thomas of Lansing, James of
Ypsilanti, and Robert of Bay City; three sisters, Mrs. Thomas Shea of Flint,
Mrs. G. B. Marsa of Detroit, and Mrs. S. E. Rodgers of Lansing; also 14
grandchildren.
