Henry 1859-1932 Mom Mom Ella May 1864-1943 OBITUARY CHARLEVOIX PIONEER SUCCUMBED AT LANSING Funeral Services for William Henry VanDusen Held Here Thursday Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, March 3rd, from the First Methodist church, for William Henry VanDusen. Charlevoix county pioneer, who died Monday, February 29th, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harold Stafford of Lansing. Services were conducted by Rev. E. Mayhew of Mt. Pleasant, assisted by Rev. W. W. Hurd. Interment was at Brookside. Deceased was born June 28, 1859, in Essex county, New York. He came to this county with his parents at the age of eight, years, and had resided here since that time. On April 15th, 1884. Mr. VanDusen was married to Ella May Bowdish. The couple resided on a Norwood township farm for 37 years, and for the past 11 years in this city. Surviving besides the widow are two daughters, Mrs. Blanch Stafford, Lansing; Mrs. Ella Cummings, Detroit; a son, Lester of Flint; two sisters, Mrs. James O'Brien and Mrs. Florence Olney, and a brother, Alfred VanDusen, of Norwood township; and eight grandchildren. The large attendance at the funeral last Thursday was an indication of the high esteem in which Mr. VanDusen was held by a large following of friends. ============================================================================== OBITUARY RESPECTED RESIDENT IS CLAIMED BY DEATH Lived in Charlevoix and Vicinity More Than Sixty Years Mrs. Ella May VanDusen, widow of William VanDusen, died Friday in Wyandotte General Hospital after a short illness. She was taken ill while visiting her granddaughter, Mrs. Mildred Lane of Dearborn. Ella May Bowdish was born June 20, 1864, in Burr Oak, Mich. She came to Charlevoix county when she was 17 years old. On April 15, 1884, she married William Henry VanDusen in Charlevoix, and they resided on a farm in Norwood township for 37 years. About 23 years ago they moved into Charlevoix, taking up residence at 405 West Hurlbut avenue. Mr. VanDusen died 11 years ago. Mrs. VanDusen was a member of the Methodist church of this city. Surviving are a son, Lester VanDusen, of Flint; two daughters. Mrs. Blanche Stafford, of Lansing, and Mrs. Ella Cummings, of Lincoln Park; three sisters, Mrs. Nettie Shapton, of Charlevoix. Mrs. Aurry Mayhew, of Mt. Pleasant, and Mrs. Lottie Chase, of Nashville. Tenn.; a brother, Byron Bowdish, of Flint; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Rev. Leigh H. Hagle conducted funeral services from the See Funeral Home. Sunday afternoon. Interment was at Brookside cemetery.
