Crandell 1901 - 1962 Verle W. Crandell was born Apr. 11, 1901, Charlevoix, Charlevoix County Michigan, USA, the son of Loren Eugene Crandell (1872 - 1936) and Mary L. Ward Crandall (1876 - 1931) Verle died Mar., 1962,Hebron, Licking County, Ohio, USA. Verle W. Crandell Former Resident Dies Unexpectedly Verle W. Crandell, 60, superintendent of the U.S Bureau of Fisheries, Department of the Interior, for the state of Ohio, died unexpectedly Friday at his home in Hebron, Ohio, where he had resided for the past ten years. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Winchester Funeral Home here with the Reverend Harold E. Kohn officiating. Burial was in Brookside cemetery. On Sunday services also were held in Hebron. Born in Charlevoix Apr. 11, 1901, Mr. Crandell left here about 1919 following his graduation from the Charlevoix high school and became associated with the U.S. Bureau of Fisheries. He rose to the position of superintendent of the state of Ohio for the Bureau of Fisheries, a position he held at the time of his death. He was a member of the Charlevoix Masonic lodge No. 282 and the Gold Star Fathers. Surviving are his wife, Tilma; a granddaughter and one sister, Mrs. Arthur Wexstaff of Charlevoix. A son, Loren, preceded him in death in 1954. OBITUARY The Newark Advocate Newark, Ohio March 24, 1962 VERLE W. CRANDELL Hebron Verle W. Crandell, 60, manager of the U. S. Fish Hatchery in Hebron since 1949, died Friday at 7:30 p.m. in his home in Hebron, following a heart attack. He was discharged 10 days ago from Doctors Hospital, Columbus, where he had been a patient almost two months. Associated with the Department of Interior 40 years, he was born April 11, 1901, in Charlevoix, Michigan,the son of Loren and Mary (Ward) Crandell. He was a member of the Congregational Church in Boston, Mass., and the Masonic Order of Charlevoix; also the Gold Star Fathers, a son having been killed in World War II. He leaves his widow, Tilma, a granddaughter and a sister, Mrs. Bernice Wexstaff of Charlevoix. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Hebron Chapel of the Charles R. Boring Funeral Home with Bisip Sturm of Logan officiating. Additional services and burial will take place in Charlevoix. Friends may call at 7 p.m. Saturday.
