Abe VerWys was born February 8, 1894 in Grand Rapids, Michigan


Abe VerWys died  April 14, 1976 in South Arm Township, Charlevoix, Michigan







Abraham VerWys

Funeral services for Abraham "Abe" VerWys, 82, who died Wednesday at the
Grandvue Medical Care Facility where he had been a patient for four months, were
held Saturday at the Winchester Funeral Home. Services were under the auspices
of Charlevoix Lodge No. 282, F. & A.M. Interment was in Brookside cemetery.

Born in Grand Rapids Feb. 8, 1894, Mr. VerWys was married to the former Olive L.
(Polly) Simpson of Kalamazoo in 1932. He was a veteran of World War I. He was
construction worker by trade and came to Charlevoix in 1947 at the time the
present highway bridge was built here. He was a life member of Charlevoix Lodge
No. 282, F. & A.M.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, George A. of Vestal, N.Y., James
S. of Buena Park, Calif., and Stuart F. of Hobbs, N.M.; three daughters, Mrs.
Edward (MaudeLaine) Huhta of Warren, Mrs. David (Mary Lou) Ikens of Rogers City
and Dena K. of Charlevoix; 10 grandchildren and a sister, Miss Cora VerWys of
Grand Rapids.

The family suggests that anyone wishing to honor Mr. VerWys' memory contribute
in his name to the Grandvue Medical Care Facility Memorial Fund.
