"Bert" Wilbur was born Sep. 25, 1886 at Northport, Leelanau County, Michigan, USA Albert died Mar., 1963 at Evanston, Cook County, Illinois, USA OBITUARY Courtesy Charlevoix Library Obituaries Charlevoix Courier Rites Thursday For Albert Wilbur Former Resident Funeral services for Albert A. Wilbur, 76, former local resident who died Tuesday at his Evanston, Ill. home, were conducted Thursday in Evanston by the Very Rev. J. Milton Richardson, Dean of the Episcopal Cathedral in Houston, Tex., and chaplain of Alpha Tau Omega; fraternity and the Rev. Russell K. Johnson, rector of St. Mark's Episcopal church in Evanston. Son of the late Capt. and Mrs. O. E. Wilbur, Mr. Wilbur, known as Bert, was born at Northport and came to Charlevoix in 1891. He attended the Charlevoix high school and Albion College where he was associated with Alpha Tau Omega fraternity in which he later held many offices serving as its Worthy Grand Chief from 1941-46. In 1935 he instituted the fraternity placement service. Since 1907 Mr. Wilbur had resided in Chicago where he was associated with the real estate business, being connected with Baird and Warner for the past 25 years. He was vestryman and junior warden at the Episcopal Church of the Atonement in Chicago until moving to Evanston where he became a member of St. Mark's church. As a lieutenant during World War I, he was a member of former President Wilson's guard at the Versailles Peace Conference. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Medinah Temple of the Shrine. Surviving are his wife, Helen; a sister, Mrs. Wilbur A. Cline and a niece, Miss Helen Rose Cline, former residents now living in New York City. Burial was in Brookside at Charlevoix.
