Wilson, 86, of Charlevoix, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, at the Charlevoix Area Hospital. The funeral service will be 1 p.m. today, Monday, Jan. 12, at Winchester Funeral Home in Charlevoix, with the Rev. Robert Lueck of the First Presbyterian Church in Petoskey officiating. Interment will be made in Brookside Cemetery in the spring. Ken was born Sept. 19, 1922, in Harbor Springs, to Kenneth L. and Grace (Davenport) Wilson. He graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1940, and from the University of Michigan with a bachelor of science in electrical engineering. ________________________________________________________ OBITUARY Frances M. Wilson Frances M. Wilson (nee Meggison) transitioned October 31, 2013 at the age of 91 years young. Fran was the beloved wife for 62 years of the late Kenneth L. Wilson (Jan 8, 2009). She is survived by her daughters, Kolleen Wilson and Pam Grove; sons, Kenneth (Susan Jaksa) Wilson, Charles (Laurie) Wilson; grandchildren, Steven, Brian and Jason Grove; Cassandra (Jason) Gray, Kenneth (Amanda) Wilson, Courtney (Michael Melnyk) Wilson, Kale (Jaclyn) Wilson and Zack Jaksa; two great-grandchildren, Georgia Gray and Sawyer Wilson; sister, Beth De Wildt (late Jack); sister-in-law Helen Meggison (late Donald); brother-in-law, Jim Alger (late Faye); numerous nieces and nephews. Fran graduated from Central Michigan University with a degree in K - 12 education. She also obtained a Masters of Education specializing in Learning Disabilities' from Wayne State University. She taught for Schoenhals Elementary School in Southfield for fifteen years before retiring to her hometown of Charlevoix. She became one of the thousand points of light created by President George Bush by going into the Charlevoix Schools and assisting students needing extra tutoring services. One of her favorite activities after retiring was walking 3 miles a day with her younger sister Faye. Their many adventures while walking brought them together for the first time since shortly after Faye was born and Fran started school in Mount Pleasant. Funeral will be 1 pm, Tuesday, November 5th at the Winchester Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4-8pm, Monday, and from 11 am until the time of the funeral on Tuesday. The Reverend Donald Kinloch of the First Presbyterian Church in Petoskey will officiate. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery in Charlevoix.
