Cloark Mother: Eliza Wyckoff OBITUARY Charlevoix Courier DEATH ENDS HER SUFFERINGS Mrs. Myrtie C. Young Passes Away Monday Afternoon at 3 O'Clock. Was Well Known in Business Circles and Leaves a Host of Friends to Mourn Their loss. Death came shortly after 3 o'clock Monday to Mrs. Myrtie C. Young after an illness covering about a year's duration. While the news was not unexpected, it was a shock to the entire community that a strong and beautiful life was ended. During the fourteen years of Mrs. Young's residence in this city she had endeared herself to all with whom she came in contact. She possessed the unusual combination of great executive ability and rare womanly charm and was one of the successful business women of this region and attained her prosperity through her own well-directed efforts. For the past ten years she had been at the head of what is now known as Myrtie C. Young & Son and during this period of years had conducted a most successful business. Shewas born at Fenton, Michigan, December 10, 1863, and later moved to Mancelona, where she lived until her removal to this city in 1900. Mrs. Young's influence was felt as soon as she came to Charlevoix, for she accepted every line of work in which she felt there was a need. She was active in church work and joined the Congregational church many years ago. Her work in the Eastern Star, of which she was a most beloved member, had been especially helpful and her death is a great blow to this order. As a member of the Macabees she had always been at the head of all movements pertaining to its welfare. She is survived by two sons—H.E. Bowen of Detroit and Earl A. Young of this city—and a brother, A.J. Batchelor of Portland, Oregon. The funeral services were held from the house Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, in charge of Rev. C. E. Taggart, assisted by Rev. Quinton Walker, the ritualistic ceremony of the O. E. S. also being conducted. Interment at Brookside cemetery.
