Beacom, age 90 of Pickford, Michigan, passed away early Friday morning, July 24, 1998 at the Northwoods Nursing Center in Farwell, Michigan, where she was a resident for two years. Ruth was born in Pickford, Michigan on December 19, 1907. She worked for the Pickford Telephone Company in early 20's and was actively involved with her husband in the making of the maple syrup for the Pickford Lions Club at their Sugar Bush on M-129. She was an avid hockey fan. She was a member of the Pickford Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the Phoebe Circle, the Presbyterian Women's Association, and the Pickford area Senior Citizens. She is survived by two daughers, Betty Jean (Ivan) Harrison of Pickford, Michigan, and Greta J. (Dewey) Smith of Harrison, Michigan; one son Robert H. (Lucienne) Beacom of Clare, Michigan, 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold on March 15, 198l. Her parents Sandy and Ida Clegg, brother Otto V. Clegg in 1964 and one siser Lois E. Johnston in 1974. Visitation was held on Sunday, July 26 from 6 until 9 p.m. at the Reamer Funeral Home in Pickford, Michigan. Funeral Services were held on Monday, July 27th at ll:00 a.m. at the Reamer Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Brown officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Chapel Gardens. Memorials may be left to the Pickford Presbyerian Church or the Hospice of Central Michigan, 210 Court, Suite B, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.
