Saturday, March 25th 1899 Page 1 Mrs. Mary Jane McKay, wife of Andrew C. 
McKay, of Dafter, died Sunday after a short illness, of typhoid fever. The 
remains were brought to this city Tuesday and transferred to Soo, Ont. for 
interment in the family burying ground.

Additional Comments:
Mary Jane McKay's maiden name was Walt. I believe her father was David Walt 
Sr. and her mother, Sarah Steele.  She was listed in the Algoma, Ontario, 
Sault Ste. Marie Census of 1871 at age 28 with her husband Andrew Cooper McKay 
and their children and a William McKay, age 70.  She is my great, great 
grandmother.  Her daughter, Margaret Teresa was my great, grandmother.  Andrew 
Mckay died in Tenino, Washington in 1916.  Andrew McKay was the first Reeve 
for Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario in 1871.  He was born in Dornoch Scotland, son 
of William McKay and Jane Gray.
