The submitter has given permission to the MIGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. _____________________________________________________________________ August, 1945 Clare County Pioneer dies at Daughter's Home: Mrs. Almeda Abbott, a pioneer resident of this community, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elmer Smith at Williamston, Michigan, Friday Evening this week. Almeda Lyons, the daughter of Elizabeth and William Riley Lyons was born June 29, 1865 at Lockport, Illinois and died August 17, 1945 at the age of eighty years. At the age of sixteen she came with her parents to Clare. They settled four miles north of Clare. June 19, 1888, she was united in marriage to George Abbott of Lapeer County, Michigan. They made their home in the Dover Community their entire married life until his death March l4, 1932. To this union were born six children of which three survive, one daughter Mrs. Bernice Smith of Williamston, Michigan, and two sons, George of Jasper, Michigan and Nial of Harrison, besides othe relatives and friends. Three daughters predeceased her; Blanche, Clara, and Ruth. Funeral services were held from the Baptist Church, Clare at 2 o'clock pm. with Rev.Charles Kleinhardt officiating, assisted by Rev. E. E. Redman. Interment was in Cherry Grove Cemetery.
