George Alfred Abbott, 79, of 203 East 3rd St., Clare, passed away on December 24th at his home. He was born on January 28th, 1894 in Clare County to George and Almeda Abbott and married Frances Grace Gaddy, who died in 194l, and then married Carrie Jane Garrow on December 18th, 1964 in Clare. He was a life-long resident of the Clare area and a World War I Army Veteran and retired farmer. Surviving are his wife, Carrie Jane of Clare, two sons; Leland D. Abbott of Weston, and Ronald F. Abbott of Jasper; four daughters, Mrs. Lawrence Divert (Norma) of Jasper, Mrs. Norman Arthur (Leona) of Amity, Pennsylvania, Mrs. William Smith (Uvah) of Adrian, and Mrs. Robert Eggleston (Ivaleta) of Ionia, 27 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were provided by the Stephenson-Doherty Funeral Home on December 27th. Reverend Donald Herweyer officiated. Burial at the Vernon Township Cemetery in Isabella County.
