Doris M. Ackerman, age 79 of Clare, passed away January 24, 1999 in Mt.
Pleasant.  She was born the daughter of Ernest and Vera (Chapple) Ramey
on May 16,1919 in Clare County.  She married Ralph Ackerman on October
31, 1944 in Clare.  Doris had lived her entire life in the Clare area. 
She had worked for Kraft Foods and Sun Oil doing clerical duties and
Michigan Bell as an Operator.  She was a member of the Clare United
Methodist Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Stars.
     Surviving Doris is her husband Ralph; a son Joe (Deb) Ackerman of
Clare, a daughter Jill (Al) Marshall of clare; a brother Bob (Jean)
Ramey of Mt. Pleasant; a sister Mildred Dawson of Texas,  5
grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  Doris was predeceased by a
brother Don and a daughter-in-law Kim.
     Services for Doris were held on Wednesday, January 27, 1999 at 3:00
p.m. at the Clare United Methodist Church with Rev. Gregory Wolfe
officiating.  Burial was in the Cherry Grove Cemetery.  Memorials may be
made to the Hospice of Clare County.  Arrangements by the
