Aubrey Braxton Downs, 83, of Harrison, passed away Friday, July 20, 2000 at Mid Michigan Regional Medical Center-Clare. Mr. Downs was born September 30, 1916 in Lawrence, Tennessee, the son of Early and Lora (McConnell) Downs. Mr.Downs was united in marriage to Helen Weiss on June 28, 1941 in Virginia. Aubrey had resided in Harrison since 1979, moving from Livonia, Michigan. Surviving are his wife, Helen of Harrison; two sons, Aubrey Downs and wife Kathryn of Brighton, Michigan and Richard Downs and wife Glenda of Redford Township, Michigan, one daughter, Diane Downs of Harrison;three brothers, Garth Downs and wife Elizabeth of Dearborn, Michigan, Selden Downs and wife Wanda of Tennessee, and Hilliard Downs and wife Peggy of Livonia, Michigan; three sisters, Oleva Downs of Bulverde, Texas, Claitor Myers and husband Bill of Dearborn, Michigan and Joyce Countegan and husband Louis of North Carolina, one sister in law, Giffie Downs of Glen, Mississippi; five grandchildren, plus several nieces and nephews. Mr. Downs was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Otis and Standish Downs. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 18, 2000 at ll:00 a.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison, with Faher Daniel Nowak O.F.M. officiating. Interment was in St. Athanasius Catholic Cemetery, Hrrison. Arrangements were entrusted with Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison.
