Eugene Baxer Jr., 73 of Harrison, passed away Thursday, October 22, 1998
at his residence.  Eugene was born August 11, 1925 in Eaton Rapids,
Michigan, the son of Eugene and Gladys I. (Betz) Baxter.
     Mr. Baxter had resided in Harrison since 1990 moving from Ithaca,
Michigan.  Eugene was united in marriage to Florence Cripps on November
22, 1944 in Lansing, Michigan.  Eugene was a member of the Ithaca Masons
and Eastern Stars.
     Surviving are his wife; Florence of Harrison, one son; Robert
Baxter and wife Sue of Blanchard, Michigan; two daughters, Carol Jean
Baxter of Baroda, Michigan, Deborah Sue (Baxter) Wielenga and husband
Don of Muskegon, Michigan; two brothers, Richard Baxter of DeWitt,
Michigan, Wesley J. Baxter of Sarasota, Florida, one siser, Phyllis
Oneal of Aurora Colorado, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren,
plus several nieces and nephews.
     Memorial Services will be held on Friday, October 30, 1999 (Note by
Alice Eaton -- this date of 1999 appeared in the obituary in the Clare
County Cleaver) at 2;00pm from Chapel Gardens Cemetery, Alma, Michigan
with Elder Dale Beavers officiating.  Interment will follow in Chapel
gardens Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be considered to Mid
Michigan Hospice.  Arrangements by Stocking Funeral Home of Harrison.
