Fred was born April 29, 1934 in Missouri, the son of John and Lois Bethel. Mr. Bethel had resided in the Harrison area for several years, he was united in marriage to Darlene Lowell, August 7, 1954 Fred retired from Buick and was employed at the Shell Station in Harrison. He was a former member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Flint and was a member of St. Lukes in Harrison. Surviving are his wife Darlene of Harrison; brother, Shelby Bethel, Flint, sister-in-law, Barbara Bethel, Flint, mother-in-law, Ethel Lowell, Gladwin; sister-in-law, Marion and Howard Taylor, Harrison; Gloria and Wayne Bailey Mt. Morris, Beverly and John Clawson, Georgia; son, Michael Bethel and wife, Janette, Gladwin; daughter Michelle, Connecticut, grandchildren, Nicholas and Joshua Bethel, Gladwin; Mathew and Timothy Perry, Connecticut, Katrina Jones, Connecticut and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents, John and Lois Bethel; broher, Gerald Bethel, father-in-law, Russell Lowell, sister-in-law, Patricia Warner, newphews, Robert and Scott Bailey. Burial was at Flint Memorial Park, April 28, 1999. Memorial Service will be a St. Lukes Lutheran Church, 616 S. Fourth Street in Harrison, at noon, Friday, April 30, 1999.
