Al was born January l, 1921, in Fenton, Michigan the son of Albert and Rose (May) Berecz. Mr. Berecz had resided in the Harrison area since 1972, moving from Flint. He retired from General Motors, A.C. Sparkplug Division in 1971, after thirty years of employment. Al was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church in Harrison. Surviving are his companion, Rosa Soyring of Harrison; seven sons: Ron Berecz and wife Deb of Byron, Don Berecz of Flint, Steve Berecz and wife Carla of Polk City, Florida, Richard Berecz of Gaines, Otto W. Soyring and wife Joanne of Arkansas, and Joseph Soyring, and wife Bonnie of Munger; six daughers, Sharon Smith and husband Doil of Glendale, Arizona, Debi Brannon and husband Terry of Swartz Creek, Barbara Newcombe and husband Steve of Ionia, Karen Cunningham and husband Steve of Perry, Theresa Haley and husband John of Harrison and Cecilia Soyring of LaPorte, Texas, thity grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, plus other relatives and friends. Al was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. The Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, Nopvember 17, 1998 from St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Harrison, wih Rev. Father Stephen Fillion officiating. The Rite of Committal was held Wednesday, November 18, 1998 at St. John Cemetery, Fenton Michigan. The Vigil for the deceased was held Monday evening at Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison under the direction of Sister Roslyn Nowak.
