December 16, 1999 William "Bill" Hugh Carr, 77, of Harrison, passed away Thursday, December 9, 1999 at the Gladwin Pines Nursing, Gladwin, Michigan. Bill was born September 12, 1922, in Cedarville, Michigan, the son of Otto and Thelma (Loomis) Carr. William Carr had resided in the Harrison area since 1978, moving from Belleville. William H. Carr was united in marriage to Ellen Stolp August 7, 1948 in Detroit. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member and past commander of V.F.W. Post 1075, Harrison, a member of the American Legion Post 404, Harrison, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #354l, also of Harrison. Surviving are his wife of fifty-one years, Ellen Carr of Harrison, five daughters: Kitti Stoner and husband Lyle of Harrison, Karen Collins and husband Steve of Taylor, Meri Hensley and husband Dave of Harrison, Dawn Woodworth and husband Eugene of Harrison, and Tina David and husband Jeff of Harrison; one son William Carr of Arizona; twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, plus other relatives and friends. Mr. Carr was preceded in death by his parents and his sister. Memorial services were held Saturday, December ll, 1999 at ll:00 am from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison, with Rev. Robert Kauffman officiating. Military honors were conducted by officers and members of the V.F.W. Post 1075, Harrison, Michigan. Cremation has taken place at North Central Michigan Crematory, Marion, Michigan.
