Cripps, age 59, of Harrison, passed away November 18, 2000 at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Russell E. Cripps was born April 8, 1941 to Harvey Jr. and Lucille Cripps in Gladwin, Michigan. Russell was a special officer - law enforcement in Saginaw, Gladwin, and Clare Counties. He had resided in Harrison for 26 years, coming from Gladwin. Russell married Mary Hayes Cripps on October 2, 1973 in Clintwood, Virginia. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist in Gladwin and Hunting guide for bears and coons. Surviving is wife Mary Hayes Cripps of Harrison; daughter and son-in-law Monica and James Curmut of St. Charles; son, Harvey Cripps III, of Midland; step-children Kathy of Gladwin and Dan of Harrison; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; sisters, Alice Utley of Mt. Pleasant, Patricia and George Nettleton of Gladwin, Norma and Jerry Winning of Greenwood, Indiana, Gloria and Joseph Talleiu of Coleman, brother Harold and Janet Cripps of Port Charlotte, Florida and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and nieces Marlene Hoard and Deborah Hanover. Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 22, 2000 at l0:00 am at Hall Funeral Home in Gladwin with Pastor Paul Schoun officiating. Burial took place in McClure Cemetery in Gladwin. Memorial contributions are used according to the family.
