Charles was born the second son of Claude and Lula (Barker) Day on August 23, 1909 in Mt. Pleasant. Charles graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1928. He attended Central State Teacher's College (CMU) graduating in 1934 with a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Life Teaching certificate. In January, l942, Charles began a 4 year enlistment in the Navy. On May 6, 1945 he married Modesta Frances Gatten at his family home in Mt. Pleasant during a short leave from the Navy. He was honorably discharged in March 1946. Charles moved to Clare with his family inj 195l to begin work for Investor's Diversified Services (IDS) as a financial representative where he continued to work untill his retirement in 1981. He was a member of the Clare Congregational United Church of Christ. Charles is survived by 2 daughters Karen Day of Clare and Judith Lynnj Cassidy of Pittsgrove, N.J.; 3 grandchilden Jennifer Jason and Joshua Cassidy. Charles was predeceased by his wife Modesta in 1976, and his brother George in 1989. Services were held Monday, November 8, at l:00 pm. at the Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home with Rev. Margaret Vredeveld officiating. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.
