He was united in marriage to Carrie Etta Dyke on January 24, 1912, at Grelton, Ohio. Four sons were born to this union: Edward, Raymond, Albert and Leonard. Roy, as he was better known, came to Michigan with his faithful wife in 1914, settling on a farm near Harrison, where he operated a dairy bsiness and farmed for a number of years. They spent one year at Dover, returning to Harrison where they have made their permanent home. He served as Custodian at the Clare County Court House from May, 194l, util his retirement in May 1956, then served as Sexton at the Maple Grove Cemetery at Harrison up to the time of his passing. Many years ago, Roy accepted Christ as his Savior, and has been a true Christian, living it in his daily life. He became a faithful member of the United Brethren Church of Harrison, holding many offices of trust in the church, being ever ready to lend a helping hand in the Lord's work. He passed from this life the morning of Sepember 15,1964, at the Community Hospital at Mt. Pleasant, where he had been taken following a heart attack. His last words to loved ones were: "I'm glad I've lived the life I've lived and I'm ready to go." He leaves to mourn his passing his faithful companion, Etta; three sons, Edward of Harrison, Raymond of Farwell, and Leonard of Harrison; together with their wives, nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Gale Conrad of Liberty Center, Ohio; Mrs. Alice Cunningham, of Ortonville; Mrs. Laura Beavers of Harrison; one brother Ray Eaton of Harrison; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and a host of friends. A son, Albert preceded him in death, also two sisters, Bertha and Enid, and a brother, Ralph. Roy was a devoted husband and father, a good friend and neighbor, and will be sadly missed by all. Funeral services were held at the United Brethren Church at 2:00pm, Friday, with Rev. Daniel Wolfe and Rev. Gerald Brady officiating and burial was in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Harrison.
