Gerow, lifelong resident of Sheridan township, died September 1, at the home of his son in Twining following a long illness. Funeral services were held Friday September 4, from the Thurston Funeral Home in Clare, with Rev. DeLayne Hirschy officiating and burial in Cherry Grove Cemetery. James Gerow was born in Sheridan township, Clare county, May 13, 1882, where he spent his entire life. He was a lumber jack in the camps, operating a threshing machine, saw mill and a machine ship, except for about ten years in Pontiac as a machinist in the foundry. He was united in marriage to Lydia May Southard in 1904, who preceded him in death in 1935 also one son Harland in 1931. He was a good husband, father, and neighbor and always ready to help a friend in need. Surviving are two sons, Callin of Twining, Russell of Pontiac, two daughters, Mrs. Harold Larson, Mrs. Thomas Cox, of Pontiac, 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Inez Teale, Mrs. George Hemstreet of Clare, Mrs. Bruce Smith of Flint, two brothers, Barney and Lloyd of Clare, and a host of friends.
