He attended Colonville school through the 8th grade. He lived with his parents on their farm in Sheridan township until the early 1920s when they moved to the Loomis area. He worked in the Saginaw and Flint shops and restaurants for several years, then in the building trade and for several local farmers. Failing health about three years ago forced him to retire to his trailer home in Sheridan township. He passed away at the Clare Osteopathic Hospital January 24, following two weeks illness. He leaves three sisters, Mrs. Inez Teale, Mrs. Mary Hemstreet, both of rural Clare and Mrs. Hilda Smith of Flint, many other relatives and friends. “Barney” as he was known by his friends, enjoyed his hobbies of music, reading and hunting. Services were held Saturday, January 27 at 2 p.m. from the Stephenson Funeral Home with Rev. Olin Schlatter officiating and interment in Cherry Grove cemetery.
